New To Google AdWords? Here’s What You Should Know

online marketing

If you’re looking to get your website put online, you want to make sure that you have an understanding of the workings of SEO (search engine optimization) and SEM (search engine marketing). Those are two key parts of online marketing and will help you push your website, content, and products to the top of the search lists.

There are other ways to do this, however. Purchasing or auctioning for ad space is another, effective, way to get your company recognition. Two ways to do this are to purchase ad space on social media, like Facebook, or to purchase the ad spot that is present on a Google search result. The one that appears right at the top.

That’s called Google AdWords, and its one of the most effective ways of online marketing.

But how does it work? And what does it do?

Google AdWords is and advertising system within Google which allows advertisers to bid on certain keywords in order to generate clickable ads which appear in Google’s search results. Google AdWords is extremely effective for many kinds of businesses, as long as they bid on relevant keywords, and don’t write poor ads.

You need to write the ad yourself and write it strong, or you won’t see much return on your investment.

Now, you may not get the number one spot with your ad. The actual position of it is determined by your ad rank. The highest ad rank gets the first ad position. The actual CPC (cost per click) of your ad will be determined by the ad rank of the next highest ad below you and divided by your Quality Score.

And you want a good ranking and position for your ad, preferably the first page. Studies show that 75% of users never scroll past the first page of search results.

The only exceptions to this rule are: when you are the only bidder or the lowest bid in the AdWords auction. AdWords bidding heavily penalizes advertisers who bid with low-quality scores.

Your Google Quality Score is the metric Google uses to determine how relevant and useful your online marketing ad is to the user. This is based primarily on your ad’s CTR (click through rate), keyword relevance, and the quality of your landing page.

Having a quality website is key to making sure your online marketing campaigns are successful. A poorly made and optimized website, with poor content, will not be as highly ranked as it could be. This means that Google may punish your ads and your rankings.
